Frome Swimming Club squad news December 2007

Our new coach arrives!

We were delighted to welcome our new coach Karen Pinniger to the poolside at the Starts and Turns clinic on Sunday – Karen’s in the middle of the group above (in a red striped T-shirt).

She writes by way of introduction:

Hello swimmers, parents and volunteers.  My name is Karen Pinniger and I have been employed by SASP (Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership), Mendip District Council, Frome SC and Wells and Shepton Mallet SC to be your new head coach. I have had a long swimming career, originally based in Leeds, but I have lived in Bristol for the last five years, and here I coached the Bristol University Swim Team.

Through December I will be coaching at the Thursday evening session at Millfield and visiting some other sessions to get an idea of who is who and what you

can do. I hope to meet you all in the next few months, and if you see me around please don’t be frightened to come and say hello!

In January I will start to work full time, meaning I will be coaching many more of your sessions. For these sessions all swimmers should bring a good sized drinks bottle and ideally (for those who have passed their Competitive Start award) fins. I understand that the club provides kickboards and pullbuoys, but if you could look to getting your own (all named and held in a mesh bag), then that would be great. Christmas is coming, so it might be worth asking Santa for any training kit you don’t already have.

Looking forward to meeting you all soon

Karen
